Ecotourism is defined as a type of tourism directed toward nature and wildlife with the goal of positively contributing to the conservation of flora and fauna. Important dialogues on ecotourism are continually taking place in Myanmar. On their visit, travelers will see the result of important policy discussions and efforts, such as the presence of green eco-lodges, adventurous wildlife refuges, protected marine parks, and various national parks around this nation rich in biodiversity.
Myanmar had the pleasure of hosting its first International Ecotourism Conference in May 2015! This conference convened to discuss the way forward to reenforce ecotourism management in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region, the Greater Mekong Sub-Region, and for Global ecotourism experts from around the world. Myanmar is ready and willing to make positive, sustainable changes to tourism in the hopes of preserving its pristine environment for years to come.
